Here’s the latest since the last update.  The down and dirty…got 3rd @ I-94 (8/27), WON @ Jamestown Speedway (8/28), 6th at BRRP (8/29), 13th @ I-94 (9/3), 3rd at Jamestown Speedway (9/4) and WON again @ Jamestown Speedway (9/5).

Special thanks to The Pizza Ranch for their ongoing support as well as special props to Spencer Johnson.

The Long Version… went to I-94 Speedway on 8/27/10 and finished 3rd in the heat.  Scott started 7th in the feature and slowly worked his way up the pack getting into 3rd.  On a restart with 5-6 to go, Scott was able to pass Dan Ebert low in corner 1 and 2 and then made a move to take the lead from Travis Saurer in corner 3 and 4.  However, they got together a little, which jammed Scott up a bit and toed the car out.  Ebert made the pass back for 2nd and started battling Saurer for the lead.  21x Saurer won, followed by 60 Ebert and Scott finished 3rd.

We then headed to Jamestown Speedway for the season championship on 8/28/10.   We drew about the biggest number in the bucket and started in the back of the 2nd heat.  Scott was able to make it up to 2nd in the heat which put him starting 6th the feature.  The feature was dry with some traction on the bottom.  There was a first lap caution.  On the 2nd restart, Scott moved from the high side on the front stretch to the bottom of corner one putting him in 4th coming out of corner two.  After a few laps his was in 2nd, battling for first.  With about 11 laps to go, Scott got the lead and somewhat checked out getting into lap traffic before taking the checkered flag.  68 Taylor Weight got 2nd followed by Z17 Zach Naastad.  (video below)

Next we went to BRRP on 8/29.  Once again drew the big number putting us in the back of the heat.  Scott made it up to 4th and started 12th in the super dry feature.  We tried a few new things on the set up and were able to make it up to 6th.  21x Travis Saurer won followed by 60b Patrick Brejcha and 72 Adam Johnson.

After some car fixing by Spencer, we headed to I-94 Speedway the following Friday 9-3 and again drew about the biggest number in the bucket.  Scott started 7th in the 4th heat and finished 4th putting us starting 16th in the feature.  Scott worked his way up in the feature and with about 6th laps to go, he was making a pass for 5th and got together with #15 Ryan Mikkelson and the call was made on Scott (oops again…we think this is one of those times when the call could have been different, but we could have bad eyes too).  Scott was sent tail end and made it back to 13th.  #60 Dan Ebert won followed by #17 Rich Pavlicek and #2 Josh Eberhardt.

Next we headed to the Jamestown Speedway for the Labor Day Weekend double header on Sat & Sun 9/4 and 9/5/10.  Over 40 Wissota Midwest Modified came for the event.  There were 5 heats the first night with Scott starting 3rd in the 1st heat and he picked up the heat win.  On the redraw, we started outside pole.  The feature was super dry top to bottom.  #17 Lance Schill took the earlier lead as Scott dropped back to 5th.  After some cautions Scott was back in 3rd and then moved up to 2nd.  With 4 to go Jason Grimes passed Scott for 2nd and then a lap later passed Ryan Mikkelson for the lead.  #2 Grimes won followed by #15 Mikkelson.  On the white flag lap Levi Arneson, who had come from 19th, Scott & Mikkelson all got together in corner 3 & 4.  The race continued to the checker and the 1s was scored 3rd.  On the 2nd night, our drawing skills got even better.  Scott started outside pole of the 4th heat and picked up the heat win.  On the redraw, we drew pole for the feature.  The track was dry with a little traction on the bottom.  There as a first lap caution.  On the restart, #2 Josh Eberhardt got the lead and Scott was able to make the pass for the lead on about lap 3.  Scott lead the race until about lap 17 when #99 Cale Arneson passed him low, while #2 Eberhardt passed him high coming out of corner two.  Scott must have drove corner 3 and 4 just about perfect as he was able to pass both back on the low side coming out of corner 4 taking the lead back and going on to see the checkered flag first picking up his 8th win of the season.  #2 Josh Eberhardt finished 2nd followed by #99 Cale Arneson.

Special thanks to everyone for all the help this season.  We are taking the week off to prepare for the BIGGEST Wissota Race of the Year, the Wissota 100 in Huron, SD on Sept 15th-18th, 2010.

Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

The down and dirty… King of the Dirt at I-94 Speedway there were 43 Midwest Modifieds, we started 14th and finished 4th (yeah).  Jamestown Speedway finished 3rd (yippie) and at Thunder Mountain Speedway we won the feature (Yeehaw).  Whoot… Scott’s 6th feature win of the season!!.

The long version… We headed out to I-94 Speedway on Friday 8-20-10 for the “King of the Dirt” event.  Scott started 3rd in the 4th heat and finished 3rd (Shane Sabraski started outside pole and Ryan Mikkelson on pole and they were side by side for 8 laps with Shane taking the heat win).  The 3rd place heat finish put us starting the feature in the 14th spot .  The feature was fast and Scott worked his way up to 4th with 2 past National Champions (Sabraski & Saurer) and Dan Ebert (currently 3rd in National points) ahead him.  Shane Sabraski won followed by Travis Saurer and Dan Ebert.

On 8-21-10, we headed back home to the Jamestown Speedway.  Scott drew the biggest number in the bucket putting him in the 8th position of the last heat.  The heat was heavy, but Scott managed to make it up to 3rd, which put him starting in the 7th spot out of 25 in the feature.   The feature was dry with some tack and had several first lap cautions.   After they got going, Scott worked up to 3rd and began battling Ryan Mikkelson so 2nd for the remainder of the race.  Josh Eberhardt won, followed by Ryan and then Scott.

Next, we headed to the Thunder Mountain Speedway on Sunday.  The heat was super heavy and Scott was only able to make it up to 4th.  In the feature, Scott started 4th and got the lead on about lap 7 or 8 and held on the rest of the way.  There was a caution with about 5 laps to go, but Scott kept the lead and took the checker on the 20th lap making this his 6th feature win of the season.

The Scott Bintz Racing team headed out for the Geographical Center Speedway on Friday, 5-21-10 but since the weather was questionable we turned around and headed to the I-94 speedway in Fegus Falls, MN after a quick pit spot at Dakota Engine Builders to change gears real fast. Scott won the heat and started outside pole of the feature. Ryan Mikkelson had the early lead and on a restart, Scott looped it and was sent tail end. Starting from the 21st position, we made it back up throught the pack and finished 3rd. #60 Dan Ebert won followed by #15 Flyin Ryan Mikkelson.  Check out the video of the I-94 Speedway race.

On Saturday, May 22nd 2010 we raced the Jamestown Speedway. Scott won his heat and was set to start in the 8th spot for the feature. Mother nature had other plans and we were rained out. The make up feature will be up on 5-29.

2010 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 3 | Feature Wins: 1 | Top 5’s: 2 | Top 10’s: 7
Points/Ave: 531.00/48.27 National Standing: N/A
Feature Winner Jamestown Speedway

Feature Winner Jamestown Speedway

We started out Friday going to the all new I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN for there opening race.  There were about 18 Wissota midwest modifeds on hand to race.  Scott had a sweet run in the heat and pull away for the pack racers and won his heat.  On the re-draw, we started 8th in the feature.   There we a feature cautions and then the racing got underway.  Scott moved up to the 4th position and with about 5 laps to go, had to pull off as the car was over heating.  Turns out the rough track had shifted the radiator and punched a hole in it.   Ultimately fun was had, fans were cheering and the car is looking real good.   #60 Dan Ebert won the feature.

After some extra help from Dakota Engine Builders and Rusty Kollman, we got the car back in good running condition and went to our home track, the Jamestown Speedway,  early to get set up to race both the A-mod (scott’s first time wheelin 600 hp) and the midwest modified.  Scott started pretty good in his A-mod heat and finish the race at the back of the pack.  This put is in the A-nid consi race where the top 4 would advance to the feature.  Scott started 14th and was moving up a few cars and doing pretty good.  About halfway through the race, Scott was on the high side on the front straight away and 2 cars below got out of shape, pushing Scott into the wall and the car behind him drove over his left rear tire.  No one was hurt, but that put an end to our A-mod racing for the night.  For the Midwest modified race, Scott drew pole in the 4th heat and got the lead quick and kept it all the way.  On the re-draw, Scott got the 8th starting spot for the feature.  There were a number of first lap cautions, but once we got going, Scott slowly started moving up and got to the 3rd position by lap 8 or so.  On lap 8, Scott drove up high in corner one and went of the track and then back on the track without causing a caution but he now in the back of the pack.   However, another spun car caused a caution before the lap was completed so, we got our 3rd spot back on the re-start.  After a few laps, Scott passed #15 Flyin Ryan Mikkelson for 2nd and then took the lead from #2Josh ”The Jackrabbit” Eberhardt.  Scott was able to pull away from the pack and take the checkered flag first.  It was awesome winning at our home track on opening night. The track was dry slick and smooth.  The perfect track to race on.

On Sunday, May 16th, 2010 we went to Thunder Mountain Speedway.  Scott started and finished 3rd in his heat.   At TMS, they do a trophy dash plus a feature.  Scott didn’t get the best start and fell back several cars but slowly worked his way back up and made the pass for the lead with 2 laps to go and won the trophy dash.  In the feature, we got the 8th starting spot.  It was a dry slick track with a few bumps.  Scott worked his way up to 2nd in about 10 laps.  On lap 15 there was a caution.  On the re-started in corner 3 and 4 the leader, Scott and another car all got jammed up, spinning the leader and taking out Scott’s front right tie rod so he was unable to finish the race.  #58 Shawn “No Fear” Nostdahl won the feature.  Ultimately it was a great weekend, we were fortunate enough to get 2 heat wins, 1 trophy dash win and a feature win.
