Our last race of the season was the 38th Annual Stock Car Stampede at the Jamestown Speedway on Sept 25th & 26th, 2009.  55 Wissota Midwest Modifieds were on hand to race.  Scott drew 48 out of 100 for starting positions which put him starting 4th in the 6th heat.  We had to get top 2 to make it in the main feature on Saturday.  The heat was tacky and pretty fast.  Scott got a good start and passed Dustin Strand for the lead coming out of corner 4.  Then there was a caution with 9 laps to go.  Scott got a great restart and kept the lead for the 10 lap heat win.  The 6 heat winners had a draw for the starting line up at the Stock Car Stampede and Scott drew starting position # 5.  On Saturday, the feature was very dry but still pretty fast.  Scott worked his way up to 3rd after about 5 or 6 laps and spent the rest of the race trying to reel in Travis Saurer and Steve Ost.  Scott got right up to Ost’s bumper but then slide off the track a bit but was able to recover pretty fast and end of the feature in 3rd.  Travis Saurer won followed by Steve Ost.  Below are some pictures from the Stampede.  (more…)

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary

9/6/09 Close to 40 Wissota Midwest Modified race cars showed up for the 2nd night of the Jamestown Speedways Double Header Labor Day Weekend Races.  Scott was in the 3rd heat and it was somewhat of a rough caution filled heat.  Scott made it to 4th from 7th to qualify for the feature in the 14th starting spot.  The feature was dry but racey.  Scott was moving up pretty good and got to about 5th when he hit the inside wall on corner 2 and spun.  Got sent tail end and Scott made it back to 11th.  Ryan Mikkelson won the feature followed by Josh Eberhardt and Landon Becker. 2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 15 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 25 | Top 10’s: 10

Over 40 Wissota Midwest Modified race cars showed up for the first night of the Jamestown Speedways Double Header Labor Day Weekend Races.  Thanks for some major fixes by Mitch and the crew at Specialty Fabricating J-Car and final touches by Spencer Johnson and the head grinder Shawn Herrick, we were ready to race.  I drew 12 and was on pole of the 6th heat.  The track was dry with some tack in it.  On the start, I got the lead and we had 2 cautions in before we finally made a lap.  On the last re-start, I took the lead and kept it with Ryan Mikkelson hot on my tail.  I was super happy for the heat win at such a big show.  Hard to believe its the 15th heat win this year.

For the feature, I drew 4.  This put me in row two on the outside.  Next to Dustin Strand of course.  We were the last feature of the night so the track was super dry with not to much of a cushion on the top.  We got going and I was able to move into 3rd and then after a re-start into 2nd.  Strand had the lead.  Seemed like i was gaining on him in corner 1 and 2 and loosing him in corner 3 and 4.  I had been running low most of the race.  After another caution, I picked low and Flyin Ryan Mikkelson was high beside me.  Strand got a good start and Mikkelson and I were battling pretty hard for 2nd.  We had one last caution.  (more…)

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary

On Wednesday August 26th, we headed to the Sheyenne River Speedway for their county fair special with both Wissota Midwest Modified and Wissota A-Mods.  Scott started 3rd row inside in the heat and moved up about a car per lap.  He almost got the heat win but drove it in a little low on the last lap.  Then there was a last corner caution thrown.   For the feature, Scott got jammed up a bit and dropped back a few spots on the start.  He started moving up and got into 2nd.  He wasn’t ever able to reel in the leader too much.  Scott got close a few times but not enough to make a good run for the lead.  He did get a few chances to try for the lead on the re-starts, but the leader was pretty smooth towards the end of the race.  Scott Finished 2nd.  Randy Klein was the feature winner. Racing Update for the Weekend of August 14th

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 13 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 21 | Top 10’s: 9

The weekend plans on Friday August 14th, 2009 began with plans to race River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND.  However, with a rain out we headed to the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND.  Scott started 4th in the heat and on the started dropped back several spots.  After he completed a few laps he started moving up again and finished 3rd.  Then the rain came and the races we cancelled.

Jamestown SpeedwayOn Saturday August 15th, 2009, we headed back to Jamestown for some racing at the Jamestown Speedway.  At 4pm this was a pretty good down pour of rain but the track was able to work it in.  32 MW Mods showed up for the race.  There were 4 heats with 8 cars in each.  Scott Bintz start on pole in the 4th heat.  Scott got the earlier lead and kept it through three cautions.  Very tacky track in both the heat and feature.  On the starting lap of the feature, Scott got spun and into the mud he went in the center of the track.  On the restart he moved into 5th pretty quickly and after several laps into 4th.  The 3rd place runner dropped out so Scott got into third for the last few laps of the race.  On a restart with 4 to go, Scott got passed at the end by Austin Arneson (who was bad fast and had been sent tail end at the beginning of the race) and wound up finishing 4th.  John Corell led most of the race but bobbled on the last lap.  Dustin Strand won, followed by Corell and Austin Arneson.  On a side note, the heat winners got spots 1-4 in the feature.

On Sunday, we went to BRRP, Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN.  Scott started 4th in the 4th heat and moved up a car a time and got the lead.  He won the heat by about a straight away as the car was pretty hooked up.  In the feature, he started 7th.  On the first corner, Scott spun out and got sent tail end.  After that the Midwest Mods went 15 laps without a caution and Scott moved up from 20th to finish 10th.  Car worked well, but the spin out on the first lap didn’t help.  Travis Saurer won the feature.

Watermelon Winner Take 2

Miller Speedway Watermelon Winner 7-24-09

Miller Speedway Watermelon Winner 7-24-09

The weekend started with a trip down to Miller Speedway on Friday July 24th.  On the drive, Cameron was hoping Dad would win the watermelon again and Dad was hoping for the trophy.  The heat race was full throttle for 8 laps.  Scott Bintz started 4th and while passing for 2nd blew it off the track coming out of corner 2 and ultimately finished 4th.  In the feature, Scott started 4th row outside.  He was able to pass a car or so every few laps.  With about 5 laps to go, Scott was in second with Lorin Johnson leading.  Scott made a few pass attempts for the lead and came close a few times.  Lorin Johnson won, followed by Scott Bintz and Kevin Bliese.  As is customary in Miller, SD, Scott received a watermelon for 2nd.  Looks like Cameron got his way this time.

On July 25th we were back in Jamestown, ND at the Jamestown Speedway.  With 36 Wissota Midwest Modifieds ready to race.  Scott started outside pole in the 2nd heat with Dustin Strand on pole.  Scott got the lead briefly with a good battle with Stand for a few laps.  Strand moved pasted Scott and won the heat with Scott close behind.  During the feature Scott started 4th row inside next to Strand again.  When the green flag dropped, Scott got a good start and was able to move into 5th pretty quickly.  After several laps Scott was in 4th and a few more he made it to 3rd.  There was a caution with a few laps to go.  On the restart, Scott was able to get beside and attempt to pass Strand for 2nd, but was unable to hold his ground as the race car had a push.   Jason Grimes won followed by Dustin Strand and Scott Bintz.  After the race, we all enjoyed the watermelon from Miller Speedway.
