Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

The down and dirty… King of the Dirt at I-94 Speedway there were 43 Midwest Modifieds, we started 14th and finished 4th (yeah).  Jamestown Speedway finished 3rd (yippie) and at Thunder Mountain Speedway we won the feature (Yeehaw).  Whoot… Scott’s 6th feature win of the season!!.

The long version… We headed out to I-94 Speedway on Friday 8-20-10 for the “King of the Dirt” event.  Scott started 3rd in the 4th heat and finished 3rd (Shane Sabraski started outside pole and Ryan Mikkelson on pole and they were side by side for 8 laps with Shane taking the heat win).  The 3rd place heat finish put us starting the feature in the 14th spot .  The feature was fast and Scott worked his way up to 4th with 2 past National Champions (Sabraski & Saurer) and Dan Ebert (currently 3rd in National points) ahead him.  Shane Sabraski won followed by Travis Saurer and Dan Ebert.

On 8-21-10, we headed back home to the Jamestown Speedway.  Scott drew the biggest number in the bucket putting him in the 8th position of the last heat.  The heat was heavy, but Scott managed to make it up to 3rd, which put him starting in the 7th spot out of 25 in the feature.   The feature was dry with some tack and had several first lap cautions.   After they got going, Scott worked up to 3rd and began battling Ryan Mikkelson so 2nd for the remainder of the race.  Josh Eberhardt won, followed by Ryan and then Scott.

Next, we headed to the Thunder Mountain Speedway on Sunday.  The heat was super heavy and Scott was only able to make it up to 4th.  In the feature, Scott started 4th and got the lead on about lap 7 or 8 and held on the rest of the way.  There was a caution with about 5 laps to go, but Scott kept the lead and took the checker on the 20th lap making this his 6th feature win of the season.

Jamestown Speedway 7-17-10

Jamestown Speedway 7-17-10

Here’s the down and dirt on the latest racing action.  On 7-16-10 we went to Norman County Raceway for the first time this season and got 5th in the heat and 5th in the feature from 11th.  Was a fun trip… just took a little long in the feature to get into the groove of things.  On 7-17-10, we raced Jamestown Speedway and won the heat from 5th and finished 6th in the feature.  Very good smooth track, just missed the set up a little.  We also had a make up feature.  Scott moved up pretty fast and got the lead about lap ten and lost it with about 2 to go.  Was a very exciting race and we ultimately finished 3rd.  On -7-18 we head to the Sheyenne River Speedway and won the heat and finished 3rd in the feature.  Fun was had and we put the car on the trailer in good condition…….

Then we went to the Red River Valley Speedway on Weds 7-21-10.  We drew 175 out of 200 and started in the back of the 2nd heat.  The track was super slimmy, so Scott pulled of after a lap.  No since wrecking because of track conditions.  This put Scott starting in the back of the feature in 16th.  The track was coming around and there was some good racing.   We missed the set up, but Scott was able to move up some until the last lap, we he slowed up and dropped to 13th.   Thanks again for all the support from our sponsors and fans.   Up next….  heading to I-94 Speedway on 7-22, the Jamestown on 7-23 and finally Sheyenne River Speedway on Sunday 7-24-10.

Geo Center Speedway Trophy Presentation

The down and dirty…. 3 heat wins, 2 feature wins & 1 feature rain out

Can’t believe we won every race we were in this weekend… wow.  The weekend started on Friday 6-4-10 with a trip up to the Geographical Center Speedway.  Scott started 4th in the 2nd heat.  Scott grab the early lead and won the heat.  The 20 lap feature was pretty tacky.  Scott started in the 5th position of the 20 lap feature.  Scott got the lead on about lap 4 and kept it the rest of the race.  There were a number of cautions and #97 Jim Morlock, who started 13th was hot on his trail but had to settle for 2nd as Scott drove the Dakota Engine Builders powered Millenium Nightmare Chassis into victory lane.

On Saturday 6-5-10, we headed to our home track, the Jamestown Speedway.  Scott started 8th in the heat and powered his way up to the front for a heat win.  He did get a little help with one of the early leaders spinning out.  All the heat races were ran and then mother nature gave us a good rain storm.  The make up feature will be 6-19-10 as well as the previous makeup feature.

The weekend ended with a trip to the Sheyenne River Speedwayon Sunday 6-6-10.    Scott drew 99 and had to start and the back of the pack in the last heat.  After a hard fought battle with 24x Steve Ost, Scott grabbed the lead with about 3 laps to go and won the heat.  After the redraw, Scott was lined up in the 5th starting spot of the feature.  Scott slowly worked his way up and raced side by side #71 Nate Reinke for several laps until he got the lead on lap 7 working the low groove.  There was 1 caution with 10 laps to go.  On the re-start, #15 Flyin Ryan Mikkelson got the lead in corner 1 and 2, but Scott got in back in corner 3 and 4 and kepted it the last 9 laps and captured his first Wissota Midwest Modified win at the Sheyenne River Speedway making it the Scott Bintz Racing team’s 4th feature win of the 2010 season.

The down and dirty….. 3 heat wins, a 21st to 3rd place finish, a rain out and a feature win.

The Scott Bintz Racing team headed out for the Geographical Center Speedway on Friday, 5-21-10 but since the weather was questionable we turned around and headed to the I-94 speedway in Fegus Falls, MN after a quick pit spot at Dakota Engine Builders to change gears real fast. Scott won the heat and started outside pole of the feature. Ryan Mikkelson had the early lead and on a restart, Scott looped it and was sent tail end. Starting from the 21st position, we made it back up throught the pack and finished 3rd. #60 Dan Ebert won followed by #15 Flyin Ryan Mikkelson.  Check out the video of the I-94 Speedway race.

On Saturday, May 22nd 2010 we raced the Jamestown Speedway. Scott won his heat and was set to start in the 8th spot for the feature. Mother nature had other plans and we were rained out. The make up feature will be up on 5-29.

For Sunday, May 23rd we headed to the Bullalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN. Scott won his heat again and started 6th in the feature. It was a half dry slick and half tacky track. Scott got the lead on about lap 10 and was able to pull off the 2nd feature win of the season.   Scott won followed by #9 Tony Engelstad and #33 Jeff Nelson.

We started out Friday going to the all new I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN for there opening race.  There were about 18 Wissota midwest modifeds on hand to race.  Scott had a sweet run in the heat and pull away for the pack racers and won his heat.  On the re-draw, we started 8th in the feature.   There we a feature cautions and then the racing got underway.  Scott moved up to the 4th position and with about 5 laps to go, had to pull off as the car was over heating.  Turns out the rough track had shifted the radiator and punched a hole in it.   Ultimately fun was had, fans were cheering and the car is looking real good.   #60 Dan Ebert won the feature.

After some extra help from Dakota Engine Builders and Rusty Kollman, we got the car back in good running condition and went to our home track, the Jamestown Speedway,  early to get set up to race both the A-mod (scott’s first time wheelin 600 hp) and the midwest modified.  Scott started pretty good in his A-mod heat and finish the race at the back of the pack.  This put is in the A-nid consi race where the top 4 would advance to the feature.  Scott started 14th and was moving up a few cars and doing pretty good.  About halfway through the race, Scott was on the high side on the front straight away and 2 cars below got out of shape, pushing Scott into the wall and the car behind him drove over his left rear tire.  No one was hurt, but that put an end to our A-mod racing for the night.  For the Midwest modified race, Scott drew pole in the 4th heat and got the lead quick and kept it all the way.  On the re-draw, Scott got the 8th starting spot for the feature.  There were a number of first lap cautions, but once we got going, Scott slowly started moving up and got to the 3rd position by lap 8 or so.  On lap 8, Scott drove up high in corner one and went of the track and then back on the track without causing a caution but he now in the back of the pack.   However, another spun car caused a caution before the lap was completed so, we got our 3rd spot back on the re-start.  After a few laps, Scott passed #15 Flyin Ryan Mikkelson for 2nd and then took the lead from #2Josh ”The Jackrabbit” Eberhardt.  Scott was able to pull away from the pack and take the checkered flag first.  It was awesome winning at our home track on opening night. The track was dry slick and smooth.  The perfect track to race on.

On Sunday, May 16th, 2010 we went to Thunder Mountain Speedway.  Scott started and finished 3rd in his heat.   At TMS, they do a trophy dash plus a feature.  Scott didn’t get the best start and fell back several cars but slowly worked his way back up and made the pass for the lead with 2 laps to go and won the trophy dash.  In the feature, we got the 8th starting spot.  It was a dry slick track with a few bumps.  Scott worked his way up to 2nd in about 10 laps.  On lap 15 there was a caution.  On the re-started in corner 3 and 4 the leader, Scott and another car all got jammed up, spinning the leader and taking out Scott’s front right tie rod so he was unable to finish the race.  #58 Shawn “No Fear” Nostdahl won the feature.  Ultimately it was a great weekend, we were fortunate enough to get 2 heat wins, 1 trophy dash win and a feature win.

Our last race of the season was the 38th Annual Stock Car Stampede at the Jamestown Speedway on Sept 25th & 26th, 2009.  55 Wissota Midwest Modifieds were on hand to race.  Scott drew 48 out of 100 for starting positions which put him starting 4th in the 6th heat.  We had to get top 2 to make it in the main feature on Saturday.  The heat was tacky and pretty fast.  Scott got a good start and passed Dustin Strand for the lead coming out of corner 4.  Then there was a caution with 9 laps to go.  Scott got a great restart and kept the lead for the 10 lap heat win.  The 6 heat winners had a draw for the starting line up at the Stock Car Stampede and Scott drew starting position # 5.  On Saturday, the feature was very dry but still pretty fast.  Scott worked his way up to 3rd after about 5 or 6 laps and spent the rest of the race trying to reel in Travis Saurer and Steve Ost.  Scott got right up to Ost’s bumper but then slide off the track a bit but was able to recover pretty fast and end of the feature in 3rd.  Travis Saurer won followed by Steve Ost.  Below are some pictures from the Stampede.  (more…)

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 15 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 25 | Top 10’s: 10

Over 40 Wissota Midwest Modified race cars showed up for the first night of the Jamestown Speedways Double Header Labor Day Weekend Races.  Thanks for some major fixes by Mitch and the crew at Specialty Fabricating J-Car and final touches by Spencer Johnson and the head grinder Shawn Herrick, we were ready to race.  I drew 12 and was on pole of the 6th heat.  The track was dry with some tack in it.  On the start, I got the lead and we had 2 cautions in before we finally made a lap.  On the last re-start, I took the lead and kept it with Ryan Mikkelson hot on my tail.  I was super happy for the heat win at such a big show.  Hard to believe its the 15th heat win this year.

Meghan in the car after the races

For the feature, I drew 4.  This put me in row two on the outside.  Next to Dustin Strand of course.  We were the last feature of the night so the track was super dry with not to much of a cushion on the top.  We got going and I was able to move into 3rd and then after a re-start into 2nd.  Strand had the lead.  Seemed like i was gaining on him in corner 1 and 2 and loosing him in corner 3 and 4.  I had been running low most of the race.  After another caution, I picked low and Flyin Ryan Mikkelson was high beside me.  Strand got a good start and Mikkelson and I were battling pretty hard for 2nd.  We had one last caution.  (more…)

Heat Wins: 14 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 24 | Top 10’s: 10

Wrecked in Lisbon: On Tuesday,  September 1st, we headed down to the Sheyenne River Speedway in Lisbon, ND for championship night.  Started in the 3rd position of the heat and  moved into 2nd pretty quick.  Tried chasing down the leader but wasn’t able to make a pass.  For the feature, started in the same position as it was a straight up race. Moved into 2nd and was running down the leader.  There was a few cautions in the first few laps.  On the restart, I picked low and was on the inside lane side by side the leader coming out of turn 2.    The leader pulled away a bit and coming out of corner four, I was hit pretty hard in the rear and pushed into the wall. I think I was on 2 wheels from the flag stand to the end of the wall.  Another driver was called for the caution.  After the a stop in the pits and a tire change, got back out on the track.  The car was in pretty rough shape but made it back to 7th or 8th.  (Not sure of official results yet).   After we got the car home we realized the entire rear section of the car and fuel cell was destroyed.   The rear clip was barely hanging on to the chassis.  On a positive note, Ryan Mikkelson, who is also sponsored by RealTruck.Com, came from tail end in the feature and won the race along with the track championship.

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 14 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 24 | Top 10’s: 9

On Wednesday August 26th, we headed to the Sheyenne River Speedway for their county fair special with both Wissota Midwest Modified and Wissota A-Mods.  Scott started 3rd row inside in the heat and moved up about a car per lap.  He almost got the heat win but drove it in a little low on the last lap.  Then there was a last corner caution thrown.   For the feature, Scott got jammed up a bit and dropped back a few spots on the start.  He started moving up and got into 2nd.  He wasn’t ever able to reel in the leader too much.  Scott got close a few times but not enough to make a good run for the lead.  He did get a few chances to try for the lead on the re-starts, but the leader was pretty smooth towards the end of the race.  Scott Finished 2nd.  Randy Klein was the feature winner.
