Here’s the latest since the last update.  The down and dirty…got 3rd @ I-94 (8/27), WON @ Jamestown Speedway (8/28), 6th at BRRP (8/29), 13th @ I-94 (9/3), 3rd at Jamestown Speedway (9/4) and WON again @ Jamestown Speedway (9/5).

Special thanks to The Pizza Ranch for their ongoing support as well as special props to Spencer Johnson.

The Long Version… went to I-94 Speedway on 8/27/10 and finished 3rd in the heat.  Scott started 7th in the feature and slowly worked his way up the pack getting into 3rd.  On a restart with 5-6 to go, Scott was able to pass Dan Ebert low in corner 1 and 2 and then made a move to take the lead from Travis Saurer in corner 3 and 4.  However, they got together a little, which jammed Scott up a bit and toed the car out.  Ebert made the pass back for 2nd and started battling Saurer for the lead.  21x Saurer won, followed by 60 Ebert and Scott finished 3rd.

We then headed to Jamestown Speedway for the season championship on 8/28/10.   We drew about the biggest number in the bucket and started in the back of the 2nd heat.  Scott was able to make it up to 2nd in the heat which put him starting 6th the feature.  The feature was dry with some traction on the bottom.  There was a first lap caution.  On the 2nd restart, Scott moved from the high side on the front stretch to the bottom of corner one putting him in 4th coming out of corner two.  After a few laps his was in 2nd, battling for first.  With about 11 laps to go, Scott got the lead and somewhat checked out getting into lap traffic before taking the checkered flag.  68 Taylor Weight got 2nd followed by Z17 Zach Naastad.  (video below)

Next we went to BRRP on 8/29.  Once again drew the big number putting us in the back of the heat.  Scott made it up to 4th and started 12th in the super dry feature.  We tried a few new things on the set up and were able to make it up to 6th.  21x Travis Saurer won followed by 60b Patrick Brejcha and 72 Adam Johnson.

After some car fixing by Spencer, we headed to I-94 Speedway the following Friday 9-3 and again drew about the biggest number in the bucket.  Scott started 7th in the 4th heat and finished 4th putting us starting 16th in the feature.  Scott worked his way up in the feature and with about 6th laps to go, he was making a pass for 5th and got together with #15 Ryan Mikkelson and the call was made on Scott (oops again…we think this is one of those times when the call could have been different, but we could have bad eyes too).  Scott was sent tail end and made it back to 13th.  #60 Dan Ebert won followed by #17 Rich Pavlicek and #2 Josh Eberhardt.

Next we headed to the Jamestown Speedway for the Labor Day Weekend double header on Sat & Sun 9/4 and 9/5/10.  Over 40 Wissota Midwest Modified came for the event.  There were 5 heats the first night with Scott starting 3rd in the 1st heat and he picked up the heat win.  On the redraw, we started outside pole.  The feature was super dry top to bottom.  #17 Lance Schill took the earlier lead as Scott dropped back to 5th.  After some cautions Scott was back in 3rd and then moved up to 2nd.  With 4 to go Jason Grimes passed Scott for 2nd and then a lap later passed Ryan Mikkelson for the lead.  #2 Grimes won followed by #15 Mikkelson.  On the white flag lap Levi Arneson, who had come from 19th, Scott & Mikkelson all got together in corner 3 & 4.  The race continued to the checker and the 1s was scored 3rd.  On the 2nd night, our drawing skills got even better.  Scott started outside pole of the 4th heat and picked up the heat win.  On the redraw, we drew pole for the feature.  The track was dry with a little traction on the bottom.  There as a first lap caution.  On the restart, #2 Josh Eberhardt got the lead and Scott was able to make the pass for the lead on about lap 3.  Scott lead the race until about lap 17 when #99 Cale Arneson passed him low, while #2 Eberhardt passed him high coming out of corner two.  Scott must have drove corner 3 and 4 just about perfect as he was able to pass both back on the low side coming out of corner 4 taking the lead back and going on to see the checkered flag first picking up his 8th win of the season.  #2 Josh Eberhardt finished 2nd followed by #99 Cale Arneson.

Special thanks to everyone for all the help this season.  We are taking the week off to prepare for the BIGGEST Wissota Race of the Year, the Wissota 100 in Huron, SD on Sept 15th-18th, 2010.

Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

Scott Moving Up At the King of the Dirt

The down and dirty… King of the Dirt at I-94 Speedway there were 43 Midwest Modifieds, we started 14th and finished 4th (yeah).  Jamestown Speedway finished 3rd (yippie) and at Thunder Mountain Speedway we won the feature (Yeehaw).  Whoot… Scott’s 6th feature win of the season!!.

The long version… We headed out to I-94 Speedway on Friday 8-20-10 for the “King of the Dirt” event.  Scott started 3rd in the 4th heat and finished 3rd (Shane Sabraski started outside pole and Ryan Mikkelson on pole and they were side by side for 8 laps with Shane taking the heat win).  The 3rd place heat finish put us starting the feature in the 14th spot .  The feature was fast and Scott worked his way up to 4th with 2 past National Champions (Sabraski & Saurer) and Dan Ebert (currently 3rd in National points) ahead him.  Shane Sabraski won followed by Travis Saurer and Dan Ebert.

On 8-21-10, we headed back home to the Jamestown Speedway.  Scott drew the biggest number in the bucket putting him in the 8th position of the last heat.  The heat was heavy, but Scott managed to make it up to 3rd, which put him starting in the 7th spot out of 25 in the feature.   The feature was dry with some tack and had several first lap cautions.   After they got going, Scott worked up to 3rd and began battling Ryan Mikkelson so 2nd for the remainder of the race.  Josh Eberhardt won, followed by Ryan and then Scott.

Next, we headed to the Thunder Mountain Speedway on Sunday.  The heat was super heavy and Scott was only able to make it up to 4th.  In the feature, Scott started 4th and got the lead on about lap 7 or 8 and held on the rest of the way.  There was a caution with about 5 laps to go, but Scott kept the lead and took the checker on the 20th lap making this his 6th feature win of the season.

Scott Bintz Wheelie'd Up @ BRRP

Wheelie'd Up @ BRRP

We got rained out friday and were hoping to race Jamestown Speedway on Saturday.  But, mother nature changed our plans and we (shawn, chase and scott) head to North Central Speedway in Brainerd, MN on Saturday May 8th, 2010.

Scott started outside pole in the 5th heat for the Midwest Mods.  45 of them showed up to race.  Scott was racing for 1st when the leader got sideways putting an end to Scott’s racing as he picked up a right front flat in the heat.  Scott started 14th in the 1st b-main..   Scott was really hooked up and worked his way up, a car at a time, to a 2nd place finish.  The 2nd place finish  gave us a 19th starting spot in the feature.  After a first lap caution, the race went green to checker.  Scott was again pretty hooked up and finished 10th.  #20G, Tom Gill took the win.  Scott passed 21 cars for the night, which just might be a career high.

Sloan Fine Tuning at BRRP 5-09-10

On Sunday, we went to Buffalo River Race Park in Glydon, MN.   With the help of Scot Sloan (the sunday night grinder), we got the car set up and started 4th in the 2nd heat.  It was a 1 caution heat and Scott worked his way up to 2nd and started to reel in the leader when we ran out of laps.  For the feature, we started 7th.  Scott quickly began moving up a car at a time and after about 8-9 laps was in 2nd and begin chasing down the leader.   It was a good race at the end for the fans, as Scott was able to challenge the leader a little but never quite enough to get around him and number 21x Travis Saurer took the checker and Scott finished 2nd.

Our last race of the season was the 38th Annual Stock Car Stampede at the Jamestown Speedway on Sept 25th & 26th, 2009.  55 Wissota Midwest Modifieds were on hand to race.  Scott drew 48 out of 100 for starting positions which put him starting 4th in the 6th heat.  We had to get top 2 to make it in the main feature on Saturday.  The heat was tacky and pretty fast.  Scott got a good start and passed Dustin Strand for the lead coming out of corner 4.  Then there was a caution with 9 laps to go.  Scott got a great restart and kept the lead for the 10 lap heat win.  The 6 heat winners had a draw for the starting line up at the Stock Car Stampede and Scott drew starting position # 5.  On Saturday, the feature was very dry but still pretty fast.  Scott worked his way up to 3rd after about 5 or 6 laps and spent the rest of the race trying to reel in Travis Saurer and Steve Ost.  Scott got right up to Ost’s bumper but then slide off the track a bit but was able to recover pretty fast and end of the feature in 3rd.  Travis Saurer won followed by Steve Ost.  Below are some pictures from the Stampede.  (more…)

Racing Update for the Weekend of August 14th

August 16, 2009 By: Scott Bintz Racing Category: Racing

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 13 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 21 | Top 10’s: 9

The weekend plans on Friday August 14th, 2009 began with plans to race River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND.  However, with a rain out we headed to the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND.  Scott started 4th in the heat and on the started dropped back several spots.  After he completed a few laps he started moving up again and finished 3rd.  Then the rain came and the races we cancelled.

Jamestown SpeedwayOn Saturday August 15th, 2009, we headed back to Jamestown for some racing at the Jamestown Speedway.  At 4pm this was a pretty good down pour of rain but the track was able to work it in.  32 MW Mods showed up for the race.  There were 4 heats with 8 cars in each.  Scott Bintz start on pole in the 4th heat.  Scott got the earlier lead and kept it through three cautions.  Very tacky track in both the heat and feature.  On the starting lap of the feature, Scott got spun and into the mud he went in the center of the track.  On the restart he moved into 5th pretty quickly and after several laps into 4th.  The 3rd place runner dropped out so Scott got into third for the last few laps of the race.  On a restart with 4 to go, Scott got passed at the end by Austin Arneson (who was bad fast and had been sent tail end at the beginning of the race) and wound up finishing 4th.  John Corell led most of the race but bobbled on the last lap.  Dustin Strand won, followed by Corell and Austin Arneson.  On a side note, the heat winners got spots 1-4 in the feature.

On Sunday, we went to BRRP, Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN.  Scott started 4th in the 4th heat and moved up a car a time and got the lead.  He won the heat by about a straight away as the car was pretty hooked up.  In the feature, he started 7th.  On the first corner, Scott spun out and got sent tail end.  After that the Midwest Mods went 15 laps without a caution and Scott moved up from 20th to finish 10th.  Car worked well, but the spin out on the first lap didn’t help.  Travis Saurer won the feature.

Scott Bintz Racing Gets 2nd Twice This Weekend

1s Scott Bintz Racing

1s Scott Bintz Racing

The weekend of June 4th, 2009 started with a trip up to the Geographical Center Speedway in Rugby, ND.  Scott started the heat in 4th and took the lead in about 2 laps and won the heat.  The track was a little sloppy with some tack.  In the feature, Scott started 10th.  Within a few laps Scott made it to 3rd.  A few more laps later and he got the lead.  With about 2 laps to go, there was a caution by a tail end car.  On the restart Scott kept the lead on the first lap, with one lap to go, coming out of corner two, the car push a bit and Scott lost the lead.  Jim Morlock won the Race and Scott Bintz finished second.  If you have been counting, that’s the 3rd time we have lost the lead in Rugby on a caution, with 2 laps to go.  We skipped Saturday and made it a movie night since the Jamestown Speedway was rained out.   On Sunday, at BRRP (Buffalo River Race Park) in Glyndon, MN, we drew 174 out of 200.  Wasnt looking the best for a good starting position.  Scott was in the 3rd Midwest Modified heat of the night in the 5th spot for the heat.  After a few laps, he moved in the 3rd and finished the race there.  It was a tracky track and pretty much follow the leader.  For the feature, Scott started 4th.    The track was a little tacky but turned to dry slick pretty fast.  There were a few caution the first couple of laps.  After the race got going, Scott took the lead on about lap 7.  With 3 laps to go, there was a caution.  On the restart, Scott kept the lead.  Yes, can you guess it? with 1 lap to go, Scott was running the high side most of the race, got passed by Travis Saurer on a semi clean slide job from the bottom of the track and Scott finished the race 2nd.  However, two 2nd place feature finishes in a weekend of pretty good for 1s Scott Bintz Racing Team.   The last time we did got two 2nd place finishes this season, we won the next race.  Stay tuned.  View the Complete Scott Bintz Racing 2009 Results.
